Most recently, Mike wrote a fantastic non-fiction book, entitled The Renewal Project

The Renewal Project is an ambitious effort to move American Politics beyond outrage, personality, and short-term reaction - and toward the harder work of governing well. Built around principles such as competence or loyalty, evidence over ideology, transparency over secrecy, and democratic process over executive fiat, the project offers a practical vision of government that serves the public broadly, protects democratic institutions, and produces measurable results.

At the center of the project is the The Renewal Project: A Plan for Democratic Governance, Michael's comprehensive blueprint for a future presidential administration. The book examines the policies, personnel, executive action, legislative priorities, institutional safeguards, and performance measures needed to begin governing effectively on January 20, 2029. Rather than offering another collection slogans, it lays out a detailed, staged plan for rebuilding public institutions, restoring accountability, and addressing the economic, social, environmental, and democratic challenges facing the country.

The Renewal Project Substack brings that larger plan into the public conversation through accessible articles on government reform, economic security, healthcare, workers' rights, education, climate, civil liberties, foreign policy, and the defense of democracy. It is written for progressives, centrists, independents, disaffected conservatives, and anyone who believes the country needs more than opposition - it needs a credible plan for what comes next.
